Pre-treatments

The foundation for any optimal coating processes is a clean surface of the workpieces. This is achieved by specially adapted pre-treatment processes. In addition to mechanical pre-treatment by grinding, polishing or sandblasting, chemical pre-treatment is one of the most important process steps. Depending on the substrate and the initial condition of the workpieces, acids or alkaline solutions with special additives are used in a first step. Afterwards various cleaning solutions are used, mostly alkaline. In many cases, electrical power is also used to support the cleaning process. Depending on the process, workpieces can be connected as anodes or cathodes in order to achieve a fine cleaning. The use of ultrasound will facilitate the cleaning performance even further.
