Zinc and zinc alloys

Zinc has the quality to form corrosion-resistant protective layers in the air even without special after-treatment. High availability and good recyclability ideally complement this property. Products electroplated by various processes are used in almost all industrial sectors. Particularly high corrosion protection is achieved by the use of zinc-nickel alloy electrolytes. Electroplated layers (pure zinc or zinc alloy) are particularly popular in the automotive, furniture and fittings industries. Corrosion resistance can be greatly increased by using suitable conversion coatings and top coats. Similarly, workpieces made of solid zinc (zinc die casting) can also be post-treated.
